Starbucks has a fruity, new addition to their permanent menu. And the brand is quite serious about it, at least according to its weirdly solemn name. The Serious Strawberry Frappuccino makes its debut this Tuesday, and while we’re not entirely sure what makes it so profound, it sure looks delicious.
The drink contains the base of the existing Strawberries and Crème Frappuccino, which consists of milk, ice, and what Starbucks calls a “strawberry infusion blend.” But here’s what sets it apart from the aforementioned beverage: It’s got layers of strawberry puree swirled throughout. The whole shebang is topped off with vanilla whipped cream, of course. If you’re wondering what’s the difference between this and a strawberry milkshake, well, not that much. But that’s not really a bad thing.
Also, Starbucks is super excited about one aspect of the drink that most of us probably don’t care all that much about—its color. And yet we’re told we should get hyped for magenta! In their official announcement, Starbucks cited a Glamour magazine article from earlier this year that hailed the bright pink shade as one of the biggest fashion trends this season. I guess that means if we accidentally spill the Frap on our clothes, we’ll be more stylish than me normally are, so that’s always a plus.
According to the piece, “Millennial pink has matured (and turned the saturation all the way up) for fall 2018, with designers making ample use of darker shades of magenta in their latest collection.” Let’s drink to that!
Oh, and if you’re wondering about its nutritional contents, be forewarned. A 16-ounce size contains 350 calories, 14 grams of fat, and 50 grams of sugar, according to Starbucks. But don’t worry, we hear super-caloric, sugary beverages are also really in this year. So you’ll be trendy on every possible level.
