Over the weekend the James Beard Media Awards were handed out at a ceremony in New York City, hosted by Tyra Banks, where the top brass in cookbooks, broadcast, print, and digital food journalism were honored for their works in 2018. A few notable recipients included the late Anthony Bourdain and Jonathan Gold, who both won awards in respective journalism categories.
“Milk Street: Tuesday Nights” by Christopher Kimball won the best general category cookbook, while “Cocktail Codex” penned by Alex Day, Nick Fauchald, and David Kaplan, was named book of the year. The New York Times nabbed the publication of the year with New York Magazine taking home the trophy for food coverage in a general interest publication.
See the full list of nominees and winners below (winners in bold with asterisk) and look out for our recap of the James Beard Restaurant and Chef awards, which will be given out at a separate ceremony in New York on Monday, May 6th.
