Contigo Recalls More Than 5 Million Water Bottles Due to Choking Hazard

There’s a major water bottle recall happening on more than 5 million water bottles sold by Walmart, Costco, and Target.

The water bottle brand in question is Contigo and the massive recall is due to the spout of certain models falling off the unit creating a choking hazard, especially for young children. As such, a whopping 5.7 million Contigo water bottles have been recalled and if you own one—and especially if you have small children—please consider removing it from the house and replacing it with a safe model.

The spouts are made from silicone and are all black in color for this particular Contigo water bottle model, which has been recalled. The bottles come in three sizes (13-ounce, 14-ounce, and 20-ounce) including Contigo Kids Cleanable water bottles. All models should have Contigo printed clearly on the rim and along the front near the bottom of the bottle but it’s possible the Contigo label could have worn off with time.

Most of the 5.7 million recalled bottles, which were manufactured in China, were sold in the U.S. between April 2018 and June 2019 for between $9 to $24, with an additional 157,000 sold in Canada and another 28,000 in Mexico.
