Here’s what we know about the 2 million pounds of poultry that’s reported to be contaminated in eight states.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced on Wednesday that over 2 million pounds of poultry have been recalled due to concerns it had been tainted with foreign matter, specifically metal.

The contamination is linked to Simmons Prepared Foods, Inc, a poultry processing company located in Arkansas. The company has reported that poultry—including chicken legs, chicken tenders, boneless skinless chicken, and halal chicken quarters—dated between Oct. 21 through Nov. 4 may be tainted, and customers who have bought these products are encouraged to throw them away immediately or return them to the store.
These chicken products were shipped to a number of states, including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania, and are stamped with a few numbers (P-1949, P-486, or P-5837) within the USDA inspection mark.

So far, there have been no reports of illness due to the consumption of any of these products.
