Spice Up Your Summer with These Fruit-Based Hot Sauce Recipes

If you can’t handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Or at least when it comes to making hot sauce.

Not all of us are fans of foods that are supremely spicy, to which we ask a resounding “what kind of person are you?” (Just kidding, maybe).

For those who can handle a little spice, but only when paired with something sweet, meet your new favorite condiment: fruit-based hot sauce. The are not only easy to make, but also take full advantage of the beautiful produce that summer has to offer.

From pineapple and peach to mango and strawberry, we’ve gathered some of our favorite flavors to liven up your lackluster dishes. Scroll down to check them out.

Pineapple Habanero Hot Sauce

Chili Pepper Madness

You may not be taking that weekend getaway to the Bahamas, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the versatility of pineapple. Make this sauce while it’s seasonal and throw yourself an island-themed BBQ. Get the recipe.

Caribbean Jerk Peach Hot Sauce

Chili Pepper Madness

We love ourselves a jerked chicken, but we’re simply obsessed with sweeter varieties, all thanks to the simple addition of peach. And that’s just peachy. Get the recipe.

Passion Fruit Hot Sauce

Curried Cantaloupe

Our passion for passion fruit knows no bounds, which is why we had to mix it with thai chilies and immediately bottle it up. Shake this over some pad thai for a much-welcomed kick. Get the recipe.

Strawberry Bourbon Habanero Hot Sauce

Fork, Knife, and Love

Despite the presence of strawberries, this one certainly packs a punch. Fiery habaneros paired with a strong bourbon? Just call us an Uber now. We’ll want to head straight home after dinner. Get the recipe.

Peach Hot Sauce

Primally Inspired

You don’t have to head down to Georgia for a dash of this sweet heat. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if any Southern lady carries a bottle of this in her purse. It’s just that good. Get the recipe.

Mango Habañero Hot Sauce

Food for My Family

Mango and habañero have been a match made in heaven for centuries. Now you get to oversee their nuptials within the comforts of your own kitchen. Get the recipe.

Cherry Bomb Hot Sauce

Chowhound

There’s no better time to bring back “the bomb.com” when describing something. In this case, it’s cherry bomb hot sauce that incorporates refreshing (and healthy!) cherry juice. Get the recipe.

Chick-Fil-A Just Rolled Out a New Breakfast Option for Nugget Lovers

You now have an excuse (other than a horrible hangover) to eat Chick-Fil-A’s nuggets in the AM. The Southern-based fast food chain has officially rolled out a new breakfast option for on-the-go customers who simply can’t get enough fried chicken. (We definitely consider ourselves part of this targeted demo.)

Meet the Hash Brown Scramble: Served either as a breakfast bowl or a burrito, this dish boasts a delicious blend of hash browns, scrambled eggs, jalapeño salsa, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, and is then topped with a choice of the famous nuggets (sliced) or sausage. It’s essentially a Chipotle Burrito Bowl, but with all of your favorite breakfast menu items. Consider us sold.

“At Chick-fil-A, we understand the importance of breakfast and want to provide a wide range of options to our guests who are looking for a fast and delicious breakfast,” said Amanda Norris, senior director of menu development in a statement. “We’ve definitely seen an increase in popularity for breakfast bowls

The entree joins the less-exciting Egg White Grill, which features grilled chicken on egg whites and a multigrain English muffin. Prices for everything begin at $3.49, which is frankly a steal compared to your kale, spinach, and spirulina smoothie. We’re just not so sure its the healthiest early morning option.

Chick-Fil-A now joins the ranks of restaurants like McDonald’s and Taco Bell, though we’re not entirely sure they’ll be as bold and adventurous as the latter. If you haven’t heard the news, Taco Bell just rolled out a Naked Egg Taco with a fried egg shell. It’s like a breakfast version of last year’s Naked Chicken Chalupa, which boasted a fried chicken shell. Frankly, we’re thoroughly impressed with the ingenuity and can’t wait to get our hands around one (or seven. At only $1.99, such a feat is possible.)

BraveTart: Homemade Oreo Cookies

BraveTart: Homemade Oreo Cookies
You don't have to hunt down specialty "black" cocoa to make authentic Oreos; the only essentials are Dutch cocoa powder and a little baking soda to alkalinize the dough. Together, they make crispy wafers as inky and intense as the original, with a hint of bitterness to balance the sweet vanilla filling. Get Recipe!
