The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Takes Flight as a Drone

An Oscar Mayer drone? When pigs fly! Well, now they’re flying—quite literally—in the form of hot dogs with the meat and cold cut company’s latest vehicle: the WienerDrone.

In tandem with the also new and also hilarious WienerCycle, the dynamic duo will join forces with the iconic Wienermobile to visit Weiner, Arkansas for an assumedly grill-heavy 4th of July celebration. The pit stop is to highlight Oscar Meyer’s decision to remove all added nitrates, nitrites, and artificial preservatives from its line of hot dogs.

“As the most iconic brand, we’re going where other hot dogs can’t. We’re committed to getting our new hot dog in everyone’s hands – and we knew that was a job for more than just our iconic Wienermobile,” Gred Guidott, Oscar Mayer’s head of marketing, said in a release. “We’ve expanded our Oscar Mayer fleet, ensuring every American can taste the new recipe, because we believe everyone deserves a better hot dog.”

The impressive dog can fly up to 1,500 feet at speeds of 50 miles per hour, joining a fleet of other tech-focused creations like the WienerMini (a Mini Cooper) and WienerRover (yes, like the ones you see on Mars). Frank-ly, we’d like to see a WienerBoat or WienerJet as part of their future promotion because if any business can do it, it’s Oscar Mayer. And why? Because they have a way with so much more than B-O-L-O-G-N-A.
