Reese’s Peanut Butter Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Are Here to Ruin Your Summer Diet

Wishes really do come true.

There was a time in my not-so-distant past when I unabashedly ranted about Krispy Kreme’s decision to debut a Reese’s peanut butter cup doughnut in Australia and not in America (seriously, we should always be the authority when it comes to deep fried desserts). But today I can officially announce that the heavenly-sounding treat is coming stateside, and I honestly couldn’t be happier. (You’re welcome…this was clearly my doing.)

“Similar to our hot, fresh doughnuts, the matchmaking of chocolate and peanut butter is a delicious combination that consumers have enjoyed for generations,” Chief Marketing Officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Jackie Woodward said in a statement. “In partnering with The Hershey Company, we’re satisfying an intense desire that Krispy Kreme and Reese’s fans never knew they had.”

Wrong. I think all Krispy Kreme and Reese’s fans knew they had this desire. In fact, it’s a favorite past-time of mine to contemplate the melding of favorite sweets (isn’t this how the Caramel Apple Pop was born?). Doughnuts, chocolate, and peanut butter are obviously a no-brainer, so it’s about time these trifecta dreams have turned into a glorious reality.

The limited edition offering will be carried in most stores, but don’t count on it to be there upon arrival. A fried confectionery this perfect is sure to fly off the shelves and into the mouths of hungry Americans. The doughnut itself is a Reese’s Peanut Butter Kreme™ filled beauty, dipped in chocolate icing, and topped with a chocolate and peanut butter drizzle, Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter chips, and peanuts, which honestly sounds like everything we we could ever ask for in a dessert.

Is it too early to order a few dozen and begin hibernating for winter? Not the worst idea in the world, considering the current state of the world. Am I right?
