Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Get the Pumpkin Spice Treatment, But Not for Long

It’s one day after Labor Day and we continue to shudder at the prospect of pumpkin spice-flavored everything. With a high temperature of 85 degrees here in New York City, the last thing we’re thinking about is fall, cooler temperatures, and seas of oversized Uggs boots with lambskin embellishments. In fact, we’re frightened to hear that Starbucks’ famed pumpkin spice latte is already gracing us with its untimely presence. (#TOOSOON)

With that said, we’d be lying if the news of Krispy Kreme’s pumpkin spice original glazed doughnut didn’t immediately grab our attention. And due to its limited quantity (they’re available for one day only!), it’s completely necessary for us to relay this information to the masses so that you can get a small taste (not an early overload) of your favorite basic fall flavor.

“As guests anticipate the crisp return of fall, we’re offering the taste of the season they’re craving – served fresh, the Krispy Kreme way,” said Jackie Woodward, chief marketing officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, in a statement. “The Original Glazed doughnut is a delicious treat on its own. By adding the subtle flavor of pumpkin spice, our guests can enjoy a one-of-a-kind fall indulgence.”

Bust out the desk calendar and your favorite red marker, because the limited edition treat will only be available this Friday, Sept. 8 at participating shops nationwide. Frankly, we like this approach to fall so much more than inundating innocent customers with a tidal wave of orange, cinnamon, and cloves. It certainly helps to ease the transition from beach to pumpkin patch when it’s a one-day preview and not a permanent menu staple for the next four months. Take note, America’s food chains.

The question now is: On a scale of one to three dozen, how many doughnuts are you going to be taking to the office on Friday? Feel free to keep that answer confidential, though we’re definitely not here to judge.
