Pumpkin Spice Snacks That Go Way Beyond Lattes

Each fall seems to bring even more pumpkin spice products to shelves—and we’re not complaining. From the ubiquitous Starbucks PSL to pumpkin spice donuts and pumpkin cream cheese for your bagels, there are fall-flavored treats practically everywhere you go.

Of course, you can make your own pumpkin spice goodies at home, but it’s hard not to be tempted by the scores of ready-made treats beckoning from grocery store shelves, ice cream cases, and coffee shop menus. After all, there’s only a limited window during which you can enjoy them! (Even though it seems like pumpkin spice season starts sooner and sooner every year and eventually we may be grumbling about PSLs in July.)

Despite the name, “pumpkin spice” doesn’t necessarily denote the inclusion of any pumpkin in the given food or drink. Rather, it refers to a combo of fragrant, warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, and cloves that we’ve come to associate with pumpkin pie—and more broadly, with fall, and holidays like Thanksgiving. You can thank (or curse, depending on your proclivities) McCormick for popularizing the pumpkin spice blend and first marketing it to consumers.

These days, there’s really almost nothing people won’t put pumpkin spice into. See: pumpkin spice pasta and pumpkin spice salsa, even pumpkin spice morsels to replace or augment chocolate chips in baked goods. Pumpkin beer has become a big autumn tradition too, and though some brews actually do contain squash, plenty don’t. (Heads-up: you can brew your own pumpkin spice ale or porter at home!) And then of course, there are always pumpkin spice candles and body lotion to torment you with their delicious, non-edible scents.

If you’re not a fan of pumpkin spice, that’s cool. You can leave the sweet treats to the rest of us (and no need to act all superior about it, either). For those who can’t get enough of the evocative fall flavor, feast your eyes—and maybe your stomach—on all these edible pumpkin spice tidbits you can buy.

Pumpkin Spice Cheerios

Amazon

Start the day off right with pumpkin spice cereal, whether you like frosted Mini Wheats or Special K. If you’re more on-the-go, grab some pumpkin spice cereal bars, granola bars or Larabars. But Cheerios are classic, pretty healthy, and unadorned, so the pumpkin spice flavor really comes through. Bonus points for using real pumpkin puree! Buy them here.

Pumpkin Spice Pop Tarts

Pop Tarts

Pop Tarts are technically a breakfast item too, though whether they should be is up for debate. The frosting makes them best suited to those with a sweet tooth. Buy them here.

Pumpkin Pie Rice Krispies Treats

Rice Krispies treats are a classic, and a staple of many Halloween parties, so these are a natural autumn evolution. Buy them here.

Pumpkin Spice Oreos

Amazon

The list of flavored fillings Oreo hasn’t tried is getting shorter every day, but these pumpkin spice beauties are clear winners. They do swap out the usual chocolate cookies for vanilla, which may taste better but deprives us of a Halloween-appropriate orange-and-black color combo. Buy them here.

Pumpkin Spice Cookie Butter

Amoretti

Okay, this one is an add-on item, but if you’re buying a bunch of other pumpkin spice delicacies (or, like, anything else), that’s not an issue. You can also get pumpkin spice peanut butter. Spread these on basically anything stationary—if you can stop eating them by the spoonful. Buy it here.

Tastykake Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

You may have heard that Hostess is making candy corn flavored snack cakes, but if you’re a pumpkin spice die-hard, you’ll want these Tastykake creations instead. Buy them here. (Or if you don’t do snack cakes but you’re still craving a little fall treat, try these healthy pumpkin dark chocolate muffins that literally only take a minute to cook!)

Pumpkin Spice Milano Cookies

These might seem a little weird, but they might also make amazing autumn s’mores. Peeps peeps have a pumpkin spice option too, though their white fudge coating might get in the way of the pumpkin spice flavors of these plain marshmallows. Buy them here.
