Amazon has announced its list of best food and cookbooks of the year…so far, as chosen by their in-house team of editors who’ve scoured the literary world reading literally thousands of pages of chef memoirs, cookbooks, and other food writing. Among the selection are titles recognized by the James Beard Foundation, accounts from Michelin-starred chefs, and a few of the world’s most celebrated food journalists.

The list includes a flurry of cookbooks and food memoirs including Ed Levine’s story behind starting his beloved food blog Serious Eats, called “Serious Eater.” Ruth Reichl, a former restaurant critic for both the New York Times and Los Angeles Times makes the cut with an account of her time as Gourmet Magazine’s Editor in Chief, while two other New York Times contributors, Mark Bittman, and Priya Krishna, are included with their latest cookbook efforts, “Dinner for Everyone” (Bittman) and “Indian-ish” (Krishna). Celebrated L.A. bartender Christiaan Röllich is also named on the list of 20 books for his guide to handcrafted cocktails, “Bar Chef.”

We chose books that we thought brought something new to the table through a mix of trusted names and new voices.”
